READ Threads Changing Color

Several people have mentioned it in passing in other threads, but the color of the little icon thingy on the left DOES change color after a thread has been read,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,BUT................only after you leave the page and come back. After reading a thread and going back to the 2019 Forum page, it stays the same color. Is there any way to make it change color when just backing out onto the 2019 Forum page?

OK, after some experimentation, it appears that if you hit refresh after coming back to the 2019 Forum page, the colors change. Or, if like I said above, if you go to page 2 then back to page 1, the colors change, but not when just leaving a thread and then looking through the list on the 12019 Forum page. It still looks UN-read when doing that.

FWIW - I have also learned that the color change is only evident when you're logged in.

If, instead of using the computer's "Back" button, you click on "Return to 2019 Forum" at the bottom of the page, the screen will refresh and the color will change. I've had to train myself to do that since I am accustomed to using the "Back" button.

Thanks Dick! I'm gonna try that. It may take some getting used to, as I also am used to hitting the back button. But if that works, that sounds like the solution.

Hal, I think that we are slowly demonstrating that, contrary to the conventional wisdom, old dogs
can learn new tricks....

I have a request for Chris, say your on page 2 or 3 and you hit the return to forum button is there any way to make it return to the page you were on instead of going back to the 1st forum page?

I was just gonna say that, Doug. Dick's method was working great. Then I got onto a thread from page 2 and when I hit the 2019 Forum button, it went back to page 1. Maybe having more threads per page will minimize it. Like I said in another thread, I am on other forums that use this or similar software, but I think this one must have 10 times the activity. The others never have more than a single page of new posts, so it's never an issue. Maybe it's because they have 20 different categories you have to sort through. Everything has advantages AND disadvantages, I suppose.

Press the function key F5.
The screen refreshes and stays on the same page.
( my 6 year old granddaughter showed me how to do it. I'm 77)

You should see the HAMB's (a forum for hot rods) forum page. It has so many users....when you post something, it disappears onto page two and beyond in a matter of minutes.

I just tried the F5 button as suggested above. Many thanks to Les's granddaughter.
