I was able to find a 1926 Tudor that has been sitting for some time and as long as the owner can get a copy of the title from the DMV I will be buying my first Model T. I am tall and I like the fact that the front seats fold forward allowing people in the back. It looks like it would not be to hard to push the seats back a few inches just like on the Model A Tudor. The price was good and I am taking a chance on it as its been sitting for some time. The car will need need new tires, glass and an interior. It does turn over with the hand crank but has not been started since her husband passed away about 10 years ago. Worst case I will need to rebuild the engine but I am hoping I can bring her back to life. The 26 is complete and is very solid. Any recommendations on what to start with? Also the car is painted in black but down the road I do plan on getting it painted. I thought the 26 models were deep Channel Green. If that's the case I would want to take her back to green.

I believe the 1926 Tudor came in black or green.

I think the closed cars could also be had in Royal Maroon or Fawn Gray.
To answer your question about where to begin, I would do a total evaluation of the car. The engine turns over, but does it have spark to the plugs? I would drain the fuel tank (if any fuel is still present) and at least get a flashlight and see if the tank is obviously dirty or rusty. "26 and '27 gas tanks are a bit of a bear to remove and replace, but if you have to - you have to. I would also pull the carburetor float bowl - I'm assuming that the car has been converted from a vaporizer carburetor to an NH; if not someone else will have to help you, I have never even seen a vaporizor, but that is what the car came with. I would check to make sure that the fan turns freely, the belt and hoses look good enough to be usable and that the wiring appears good enough that you aren't going to have an electrical fire. Drain the oil and put 4 quarts of good oil into the crankcase; you will get all kinds of advice as to what oil to use, but I keep it simple and use good old 10-W-30. I would jack up one rear wheel and either by hand-cranking or with a fully-charged battery see if you can start it. Note: If the radiator has not been replaced or if it still has the original round vertical tube radiator, I would plan on the purchase of a new flat-tube radiator (mine is a Berg's and it's fantastic) unless you are planning to do a complete restoration. If showing and restoration are in your plans, you will need a new round-tube unit which will not cool as well as the flat-tube, but the judges will know the difference. A new radiator is a bit pricey, but if the original radiator is still installed you will likely have to get used to frequent overheating.

Several colors were available in 26-27 Fords, including black, four different greens, and others.

There are several model t folks around the Troutman area that would be glad to come and help you out. Nice area for touring not far away, like Hendersonville!

Is that the correct brake light over your plate? I am asking because the car I am going to get has one just like it but I have seen different styles.

Thats the correct stock tail light. Originally didnt have a brake light. There was an accessory stop/tail light offered by Ford. Its about twice the diameter. "STOP" stencil behind the glass lens on top.

That is the correct light but it does not have a brake light. I bought 2-contact sockets that fit the housing to add brake lights. The vendors sell sockets.

Bill that is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL Tudor! It looks very authentic as well!

The tail light is original has been converted to have brake light also.I have seen 26/27 coupes with original Gun Metal Blue paint.Tudor's came in Fawn Gray,Highland Green,Royal Maroon and Black I guess.
They don't list Tudors coming in Gun Metal Blue but I do what I like.
