I have received a few calls this morning that someone has hacked my email and has sent an urgent request for money to be sent. I have not seen the email so I don't know the particulars. I did not send it so please no not respond to it. It is a scam to rip you off. It apparently is using the Mother Lode Mode Model T Club and my name and email address in it's verbiage. I hope that word gets out I would hate to see anyone get ripped off because of this.

A similar request was sent via text to members of the Sacramanto Valley T Club to appear like it came from their President. Was the same phone number. 781-243-4415.

While not T-related, it does relate to a bunch of us "T-ers", as most of us are retired. A new phishing email is going around
supposedly from the Social Security administration saying you have a message from them. Even gives the link on the email to click on---of course!! This looks very legit. It isn't. How do I know? The stupid bastards sent it to my ALTERNATIVE email, that I NEVER gave to the S.S. admin!! So, do NOT click on it...just delete it.

I get around scams like this by never sending money to anyone, no matter how noble the cause seems to be, then deleting the unopenened, unread, e-Mail. Jim Patrick

If you look closely at the "from" email address, it will be slightly different in some small way.
For info, your email acct has not necessarily been "hacked." Your email address has been duplicated and cloned, and other email addresses for the group were also captured, probably by a computer program somewhere than scans millions of email addresses daily. Lists of email addresses are sold on the "black-web" to scammers who then use those email addresses for their stupid games. So- nobody has "hacked" (taken over) your email acct. If that were the case you would probably see that strange email in your outgoing email box. Changing your email address is not necessary but certainly alerting everyone that your email address has been used to send out a scam is appropriate. The worst thing you can do is contact the scammer to play silly games. That only confirms your email address is valid, and it can establish a link directly to your computer. Be careful out there- lots of this crap going on right now.

I have sent anything that is suspicious or unwanted to spam, unopened. The computer learns & self edits. I very rarely get garbage. I check the spam folder before deleting, just in case something got in there I may have wanted & move it back.
