How to install a cam seal?

The seal's neoprene ring (A) has to fit over the slightly larger #3050 cam gear lock nut (B). How do you get it over the nut without wrecking it? I'm sure several people here have done this.

Put up to the nut & use a narrow feeler gauge.(gear type) Once a bit of edge is in, run the feeler gauge around the lip. You may have to Expand the seal outer body to get a press fit or glue it in with silicone.

Excellent! The feeler gauge gave me the idea of thin metal. A little piece of .002" shim stock did the trick.

I used a light grease to coat all the surfaces inner and outer and used a deep well socket to slowly square it in and then slowly drove mine in. It seemed pretty tight to me.

Should also smear a film of black oil resistant RTV around the outer rim of it prior to inserting. Holds it in place, and also
keeps any potential oil from seeping out.
