[attachmeI’ve recently purchased a nice little ‘26 coupé, which, alas has been fitted with Model A wheels. It’s also been fitted with bumpers, but the rear bumper is so near the body that there is no room for a spare tire. Is it possible that my machine has been fitted with Touring/Sedan brackets rather than the correct Coupé/Roadster brackets?

That is not a Model T rear bumper. Look back in the forum discussion some months ago regarding this. I posted photos of my bumper brackets.
Whenever you have a question about anything Model T, google search:eg, “rear bumper brackets mtfca” or, radius rods mtfca and you will get a library of information.

That looks like a Model A bumper. Most A's and T's if they are coupes or Roadsters, have two piece rear bumpers with a space between the bumperettes for the spare tire.

That looks like a 28-29 Model A bumper. The brackets are probably not correct either. Here are pics of an extra set of rear bumpers I have from a 27 Touring car.

Here are the bumpers mounted. I hope this helps. Russ Furstnow
