Firewall insulator on a 27 roadster?

So I’m restoring a very original “unmolested” 27 roadster. Upon removing the gas tank (which I doubt had ever been removed before), I found a piece of material that I can only describe as being a firewall insulator. This is a late production 27 Canadian roadster that came from north central Saskatchewan. In my almost 50 years in the T hobby I’ve never encountered something like this. No evidence of a heater on this car, although the floor boards are missing. So perhaps it had one that wrapped around the exhaust pipe. Holley Vaporizer carb. Serial numbers match

Do you mean a small patch of cloth on the inside of the firewall at the gas tank sediment bulb?

My very early 27 Roadster had one. I ordered a replacement from Langs

My very late '27 touring also had one. I reused it as it was in good shape.

Thanks for that link Steve, I haven’t seen that large cardboard piece before. My ol ‘27 roadster was very original and had a small patch of heavy tar paper (approximately 6” x 8”) riveted to the firewall for this purpose. I assumed that this tar paper was original as there was a perfectly shaped rust out in the front panel of the fuel tank from the tar paper holding water

I guess after 90+ years anything is possible tho...?

OK, know I understand. Yes, my mid year 1926 Canadian coupe had some remains on its firewall when I pulled the tank years ago, not enough that I could make sense out of what it was or what it looked like.
