Interesting T head
I received a few questions about the head I am running. I too do not know much about it. I have attached a few links to the information I have obtained on it. As you can see in the pictures, I had to perform a lot of work to get it into working condition. Leveled both the top surface and shaved the decking surface. Where the head bolts go through, we milled them all level. We cleaned up the combustion chambers as well. I did not purchase it from any member on here and do not know the people in the links personally.

Re: Interesting T head
That head looks like the one off a Model T engine for a airplane, but with a water jacket.

Cool head!
I've seen one before here but don't recall where.

This brings up the old question...If Harley Davidson made an airplane, would you fly in it ??Tea_time_racer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 10, 2019 12:42 amThat head looks like the one off a Model T engine for a airplane, but with a water jacket. ModelTAirplane.JPG
I think I have to pass on riding in an airplane powered by a T engine !

Re: Interesting T head
I always see Model T engines for airplane use crop up on the forum, but I’ve never seen an answer to the obvious question to follow: Did anyone manage to make a craft fly with one?

Re: Interesting T head
I think it was Pietenpol company that put a Model T engine and later a Model A engine in a airplane. I have seen a Model A powered plane fly, but without the redundancy on the ignition and with other faults that we are all aware on these engines I would not do it. Juts because it can be done don't make it right.

Cris Essaguards(sp) plane in the MTFCA museum in Richmond is equipped with an aluminum head and uses two spark plugs with two ignition sources.
