Picked it up from the platers and took to the radiator shop

Beautiful work Les. I presume the flange/foot on the base is to give a stronger solder joint. On our Canadian sourced original radiators, that flange goes into the neck, and a raised lip in the top plate of the radiator is turned back down on the flange to make a mechanical joint which is then soldered. Either way, that base is never seen under the shell. The originals are a pain to remove, and some of the tank top is invariably broken off.

Allan from down under.

Having observed Dean Yoder’s problem with a rad neck failure and considering that I hope to drive this car right across Canada next summer with a motometer, and considering it didn’t cost me more “out of pocket” than the flimsy one you can buy, the decision was easy!
