I’m “attacking” the box on my 27 rpu. I have a new rear U channel and am contemplating the attachment. I can buy the appropriate steel rivets locally. The issue (as I see it) is that the heads show (actually both sides show)! Reriveting a frame is fairly easy as they really don’t show when you are finished.
I am thinking about hitting them with the mig welder on the “non head” end as the original finish was nothing fancy! That way I won’t mess up the nice head end!

I am doing a rivet job right now on some fenders and got a really nice bucking tool and rivet set from Big Flats Rivet in NY. The bucking tool does a great job at supporting and protecting the "good" side very well and if you trim the rivet to the specified length, the riveted side turns out as nice as the head.

I make nearly all my own specialty tools and jigs but found the prices for these items even with shipping was so good that I didn't devote material or time to making them. Perhaps Canada shipping will make it unpalatable, but it's worth a call to them. The fellow that runs the outfit is quite nice.
