coolant Ratio
Being that water is a more efficient coolant than antifreeze, I was thinking of using more water than the normal 50/50 ratio maybe 75/25, does any know the freeze protection at that ratio. I live in the mtns of Va and winters normally don't get much below 10 deg above zero. Thanks

Re: coolant Ratio
Here’s one chart you may find helpful.
I had my teen grandson do the math off the back of the container! Just use the coolant system capacity of your T, brass radiators and low heads have less capacity.

Re: coolant Ratio
You never want more than a 70/30 ratio because, once the antifreeze ratio exceeds 70%, the freezing point actually rises.
100% straight antifreeze has a freezing point of 0 to minus 5F.
I'm in Minneapolis where it never gets colder than minus 20F. In my case, 50/50, which is pretty much standard when modern cars leave the factory, will more than suffice as the protection is to minus 34F.
If I lived further north, I would go 60/40 and if I lived in International Falls, then I would go 70/30.

Re: coolant Ratio
You never know! Here at 2000' above sea level in San Diego, County, it rarely gets below freezing, however, one winter we had a night when it got down to 18 above. That night the pipes in our attic froze, so either 50-50 is fine. Even 40-60 would be OK. If you get a few days of exceptionally cold weather it would be good to drain the cooling system unless you have the right ratio. We have lived here for 47 years and that only happened once.
