All Ruckstells and rear ends get fill the same amount. It is the filler hole placement on the right side housing that tells how that level is measured, Ruckstell did not make and sell the right side housing, that is Ford.
I should have used level instead of same amount. They all get filled to the same level.

It's a good idea the first time you fill the rear axle with Ruckstell to Wait a while perhaps let it idle on stands for a short time, and then check the level. It takes a while for the oil to reach the internal parts. After you drive it around a while check again. After that it should stay full for a long time unless you have a leak.

I had heard some folks say you fill up to the hole and others say that you fill to within 1 inch of the hole depending on the year of the ruckstell. I guess that must be a myth?

Mine does leak. I need to top it off every three weeks or so.

If the filler hole is toward the center of the axle tube, it should be about 1 inch below the filler. The first joint of your finger should just touch the top of the oil. If the filler hole is a little lower than the center, then fill it to the point of the bottom of the hole.

One Quart is recommended for standard differential, http://www.modeltford.com/item/600W.aspx
I suspect the Ruckstell would require 1.5 to 2.0 qts. jb

You would think. First fill (new unit) took less than 1 quart. The rux takes a thinner oil than the standard rear end.
Rux:90 wt. Std:140 wt. (not my guess, published in rux book)

Where is it leaking?
Around the bottom of the housing where the two halves come together.

You could get lucky by cleaning the area up very well and quickly smearing on some ultra black before the oil seeps out again.

Or it was put together without sealer or gasket.

As someone suggested on that other place, check your housing bolts too.
