New cam bushing tool
Haven’t posted an engine build update in a while so I think I’ll start with this. I’m rebuilding the engine for my 27 closed cab TT. Doing most of the work myself I needed a tool to properly ream out the rear cam bushing in line with the front bearings. With the help of my local machine shop and a very nice guy in Washington who supplied measurements and great pictures, this tool was born. Makes reaming the rear bushing super easy and precise. Who knows how often I’ll actually need to use it but at least I have it in my arsenal now! Simple yet effective. Shaft turned down to barely slide through the bearing journals with ease. Small stub reamer held in by a set screw. The end of the shaft was machined so that it can easily be turned by hand with a wrench, length of rod stock or be chucked up in a drill. It took more time to install the bushing than to actually ream it out.

I made one also. Used some aluminum round stock which made for easy machining. Not as durable as steel but fine for the purpose.

Thanks for commenting Steve. Without your help and pictures I’d be lost in the sauce! This tool really takes the build to the next level.

Re: New cam bushing tool
Any chance someone has one of these to sell or know where they do off hand? I won't need it until next year, but it pays to be ready and I don't have anyone who can make one.
