I'm going to keep this in my T in case I need to air up a tire.

1 Does the piston prefer oil, like other air tools, or should it run dry?

2 Does it matter which cylinder it goes in?

This my backup. I was pleasantly surprised to find how well it works.

Steve, my dad had that exact one when I was a kid. Never used oil and we used the easiest plug to get to.
They work good.

The second pump works good if you have a helper😁.
I have used that type on tractor tires on the farm as a kid also. I prefer no. 1

The key to using the second pump is the type of chuck you put on it. The pump has no check valve, and uses the valve in the tube stem to do that job. That means you have to use a chuck with no center pin, so it will allow the valve to close between strokes.
