Bud, Rob's racer is out of commission. It is in Mike Benders shop.

The weather is great. All of us are having a wonderful time. Steve is doing maintenance and taking lots of pictures. The Henry Ford is restricting the number of people allowed on the grounds, so the lines are shorter at the food booths, and the roads are not as packed. I have not seen any of the big $$$ cars. Because of some construction, they moved the cars around. Lansing to Dearborn cars are hidden in a corner, 1914-1919 are stuck down on the game field, and others just seem lost.

I met a family at the Ford Garage tonite. They said they were coming tomorrow and I promised them all rides. That is what happens when you park in front, I guess.

It’s rough watching this from across the border! Hopefully we will all be back next year- displaying, judging, speed assembling Model T’s, meeting with old friends……

Dave took me a ride in his speedster. He made my old buddy Gary's day also. He gave everyone I had in the truck a ride. I think he had a different rider all weekend everytime I saw him. Thanks Dave

My son and daughter in law helped me put our three cars to bed at he shop tonight.I returned home to my visiting daughter and 6 year grandkids. They presented their grand plan to me.

1) They want their Dad at the OCF in 2022. Now that he has a permanent assignment, they will make sure he has vacation next year.

2) While the T is their personal favorite, they want their parents to have a Model A because they believe it will be easier for their Dad to drive. If the ‘28 is not done, Grandma will be required to relinquish her ‘31.

3) They will convince their Dad that the Eagle Tavern and Ford’s Garage are must dine venues. The onion rings on a funnel are a must.

4) There must be sufficient Model Ts available for them to ride

5) I will provide program updates.

We sealed the deal tonight while watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I don’t recall having their foresight at that age.

Dallas,

You missed the family I took out today. Mom and 3 kids. The third kid has a disease and was confined to a wheelchair today. Then he got stung by a bee. When he got in the car he told me he wanted the entire ride, not a cutoff version. I think they all liked the Doc Hudson slide in the gravel at the far end of the property where we are sort of hidden. We met the family the night before at the Ford Garage.

Tom, I need to be at the Garage with you, just in case "someone" decides to shotgun beers with the funnel after the rings are gone. Hort-Ness, good on ya! The kid will never forget that!!!!

Dang, I just knew that mishap would end up on the forum! Yes, it was me :( Turns out you DO need a cotter pin in those rear wheels! Funny, the right one had a cotter.

Hank, wish you could have come up and join us. Even if you did not want to haul a vehicle you could have ridden all day. Maybe next year you can come up and be copilot in the big green truck.

Sorry I missed all of you this year. We went to my buddy Randy's antique motorcycle show downtown early Saturday afternoon, then retired home to do homework... the joy of being back in school. Were going to try and make the gaslight parade but it was just not in the cards.

Had a couple good late night discussions with Steve though. And 'helped' change his oil Sunday morning.

Hope to see you all next year- I'll lighten the school load. ;)

I missed my ride in Dallas' truck... and I still have YET to snag one in Rob's K. LOL someday.

If any of you will be at the Model T Birthday party, I'll see you there. Grandpa is coming too- he turns 100 the day after the party!

Respectfully,
jk

I got my ride, too. I think Rob left Saturday night.

Dallas got a speedster ride too, I think. I do not know what I will do next year. Trailer, or drive. Time will tell.

I hope Steve has an uneventful ride back home.

Looks like a whole lot of fun. Our big event, the Bay to Birdwood run fell victim to covid rules this year.

In the very first photo, is that a new Mustang? What have they done ???????

All in all, the OCF was a good one again this year. It was disappointing that the '14's through the '18's were relocated to the car games area. That was due to construction of the historic Vegatable Market being built in the area where we used to park. Hopefully, we'll be able to return to that area to park again next year.

In the group photos above, Don Booth is the 4th person from the right wearing a white hat. Only his face / head shows as he's standing behind two other guys. That gathering was kinda short but fun. All we did was introduce ourselves and say where we're from pretty much and then had the pictures taken.

What Keith said, with the additional comment that the gaslight parade was spectacular. Most of the participants where we were (down in Walnut Grove) elected to move back up the hill and park (illegally) in other areas, closer to, or right in, all the action. Hopefully no one got in any trouble over that. We elected to stay where we were placed and eat dust from the cars going by at mostly high speed on the dirt road that borders WG on the north. Got a total of 6 visitors all weekend, so maybe we should have moved as well. Hoping along with Keith that next year they will put us back where we were.

What a magnificently unique event is the old car festival! I had an absolutely wonderful time. And since I gave up narrating five years ago I’ve been able to socialize more. The meet and greet was great we got to put names with faces. We got to talk and laugh and yes, it may have been short but it was fun. It seems that the time was right for everybody 5 o’clock. Maybe next year instead of everyone going out to dinner we should turn it into some sort of potluck. Thanks again for attending.

As R. V. said, the Gaslight Parade was spectacular. My only disappointment with the Gaslight Parade was that too many cars didn't have their lights on and / or didn't have any taillights. This is especially relevant in those few areas that are really dark with insufficient street lights. The area just before the covered bridge is an example. Imagine what a black Model T with no lights on of any kind looks like on a dark or very dimly lit road. That's a big safety issue.

Hi Tim, There were two traffic cops directing traffic & that's another thing. Those guys were wearing dark blue uniforms that can't be seen after dark, even with the street lights. They should at least have reflective vests on after dark. Another big safety issue. I hope neither of them was hit.... There were lots of other security officers around during the day, but I didn't see them at night. Again, a dark colored uniform that can't be seen in the dim light.
