when I shifted my KC Warford fron 2nd to 3rd I could hear a different whining from the overdrive. It did not alarm me but it was different and I wanted to know if that is normal or is something wrong? Thanks again for all your comments.

Seems to be normal. Mine does it and several on the forum have mentioned that.

Thanks. What speed do you drive your car at in overdrive?

Around 30 mph. I don’t utilize it for increased speed. And my KC is a little louder in OD - though not worriesome - than the cast iron OD KC in my TT.

Speed depends on road conditions. I don't use it to go faster unless on very good surface with plenty of sight distance. Mostly use is to lower RPM for any given speed. My car does cruise well at about 40 mph on a good road (clocked by another car) whether in overdrive or not. I don't want to go any faster that that.

My modern harley is louder in OD. (6 gear) My old 63 ford was also. Nature of the beast?

Those old Ford (BW?) OD units had a planetary gearset that gave .70 overdrive. I think a slight noise was normal. I loved those things.

I agree. I got my car to 45 with the overdrive and was at about half throttle.... to be honest it was a bit nerve racking. I think 30 to 35 is a good speed for a Model T. My car is a very strong runner and I have a feeling it would do 50+ but I am not willing to try lol.
