Outer Muffler Shell
I did some measuring several years ago but can't remember. Will a 5 inch truck exhaust pipe fit inside the ends for a T muffler? It would definitly be thicker than the stove pipe metal that was on most mufflers.

Yes it works very well.
I used the pressed still ends but I think the cast ends would work better.

Re: Outer Muffler Shell
Cast type ends; There is a taper to the ridge the outer shell fits onto. When the muffler is assembled and through bolt is pulled up, the ends of the outer tube get slightly flared to seal. The minimum OD on the cast ends is about 5" at the end and approx 5-3/16" at the bottom, so ID on the 5" pipe would be too small.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!
