I can't figure out how to post a picture, but I saw one of a brace the had two bump outs for the headlights. How do they mount, use existing riveted holes replaced by bolts or would you have to drill holes, (I wouldn't)

Do you have a '26-27 car and a Ford headlight bar, or is it anaftermarket brace or older car?

I should have said: It's a 1922 touring car.

The only one with lights on the bar, I know of was for a 1927 "improved" T. Any others made for older T's would be an aftermarket accessory and would only support the fenders and use the standard headlights.

I wish I could post a picture. the bar goes from fender to fender and has bump ins to go behind the light and then straight and bumps in around the back of the other headlight and on to the fender. The bumps bypass the lights , it has nothing to do with mounting of the head lights.

It sounds like your describing a fender brace that was added to it. Fender braces were used pretty often on T’s as they got older to keep the fenders from sagging. People would haul this and that between the hood and fenders and people would take a ride and sit on the fenders. Then the fenders started dropping. There were several different style braces that were used. Yours is one of them.

Without pictures, this will be tough. Most fender braces go in front of headlights from side to side, not back around them. The more common ones, have a clip that attaches to the outside of the fender edge, with a brace rod/bar in between. This maybe; http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/70 ... 1484946183

If you mean this type, ARG fender iron brace, the castings at each end have holes that are located over the two rivet heads to the fender/bracket. You chip off the ends of the rivets, drive them out, then place the brace over the holes. Secure with carriage head bolts on top, and lock washers and nuts under. The carriage bolt heads look like rivets.

That is it ! So no new holes have to be drilled. Excellent thank you all. Now I just have to find one.

The follow up pics of all the fender braces are pretty neat! I’ve never seen the setup that Dan pictured. Not that it means anything but those look pretty neat in my opinion. Finding braces like that might not be easy. Their another T item that was thrown away because people didn’t know what was it for when piling up scrap iron and metal for farm auctions and cleaning up old junk iron.

Agree, hard to find the ARG brand, these were made in Birmingham AL, perhaps had national sales, but likely found in the southeast.

I got the one for the '23 cut off barn T from Dan Hatch, who lives in Birmingham, perhaps he could round up another.

And, they made a Rear Fender brace.

Have a buddy in GA who has this Right hand brace, but needs a Left hand one too.....that rear brace will have the same markings but a "L" in the casting letters on the mounting leg.
