Lithia is still a big dealer of Fords & other makes in Medford & here in Klamath Falls. Ashland is just a few miles south of Medford.

Yes, Lithia motors is still around (bought my pickup from them through an Auburn, CA dealer (long story, not important here), BUT in this case, I believe the Lithia is in reference to the Lithia water that was and is prominent in the center of the photo/square. It's a naturally carbonated mineral water. Those of us who grew up around such water like it, most tourists don't take to it well, which provides some entertainment to folks around the square to this day (I have fun because I show up and drink it gleefully--not the response the locals expect!). Most of the buildings you see in this photo are still there, wish I had a comparable modern photo to post here! I will admit that when it was piped to the square in wooden pipes, it wasn't quite as effervescent as it is now with modern plumbing.
T'ake care,
David Dewey

There is a fountain in the middle of town with Lithia water. It tastes like alka seltzer. If you drive all the way from Los Angeles non-stop, and have had a lot of coffee to drink, you might have acid stomach! It helps that condition! How do I know? I did it when I was about 20 years old!

I had no idea that Lithia was a type of water. I look forward to trying it next time I'm in the area.
