I have a Klaxon horn that I want to take apart as it doesn't work well. It does not have screws holding two part together. Looks like it is "pressed" together and I don't know what to do to get it apart. Hope someone knows what I am talking about as I don't know how to attach photo. I could e-mail photo if anyone may be interested in helping me.

I am working on getting photos. Horn impression "K 4 KLAXON New Jersey USA" There is no tag and no sign that there once was one. Have been looking on line and am unable to find one that looks like mine. It is a 6 volt horn if that helps.

Think that Model 4 Klaxon may be this later version, (from the 1940's).

Does seem to be press fitted case. Taking that apart would be a bit of work.

From the chipped edge of the bell flange, seems someone has been in there, or else the bell is an add-on. Would just pry the bell away to get to the insides.

Several questions and more pictures needed. Why are you wanting to open it?

Klaxon is a brand and style - are there any markings Model Number etc. I assume its electric and if so I don't' see any point in opening the bell end if it doesn't work. You'll you need access to the other end so I would be looking to open the end with the electric connections (see example) . I also agree with the above that the bell may have been replaced as evidenced by the rim edge markings.
. Also the openings on the bell end make me think more siren than horn but it likely a horn.

It will be very difficult and probably damage and distort the horn if you try to un-crimp the piece folded around the edge and pressed flat. Maybe you can grind off the edge around the circular rim with an angle grinder until the crimped portion around the outside edge is all the way through and the halves separate. Perform your work and when ready to reassemble, drill (6) 3/16” holes through both pieces around the periphery, make a gasket and screw the halves together like on the period Klaxon horns. That way you can service the horn in the future. Jim Patrick

The bell looks like it was from another horn. The ragged edge (not crimped) and large gap - what holding it in place

What you are looking at is the original part. I got that off by prying around flange. Did this after first post and before had photo. Went ahead with photo to show shape of horn. Now I think I have to take top off if I want to get to motor. I was hoping that someone has done this before and could tell me how. I want to take it apart as it doesn't work.

Maybe not re; done before. Ok disclaimer, I have not seen every horn made back in the day, but that does not look like anything I have seen in print or photos the motor part, the bell was married to it from maybe a different horn.
Looks like it has a set of make/break contact points, like the Model T battery horn. So would say is battery not magneto horn setup. If the plunger move up and down and wires are hooked up, one side to the horn body and one insulated to power, could be just the points need cleaning.

I had searched the web looking for a horn like yours, found many vintage horns and sires but none like yours, all where bolted halves. Here is a link that might help you get it to work once you get to the electronics. If you decide to follow Peterson's advice you might consider drilling a few bolt holes near the perimeter to keep things aligned before splitting apart.

With that wide flat flange, I would think the best option would be to slice the crimped over section off, and use bolts & nuts to put the flange back together, this would also facilitate servicing later.
