Damn tweakers! Little doubt the cars will turn up in a ditch somewhere... and the trailer will become a rolling meth lab in no time. Unfortunately this is not the first time...☹️

Lots of alarms and tracking devices out there to protect an investment. This looks pretty good - to deter trailer hook up

Let me guess. No tracking device installed. Tracking devices are so cheap now that there is no excuse for not having one nowadays.

Read the link … 👀
There was a tracking device.
The signal disappeared.

there's even video of the theft! With so much "evidence" I am surprised they haven't been found yet.

The trailer was stolen probably to go south across the border
or to be used as a meth lab hidden somewhere out of sight 👀

Trailer theft is a low priority crime.

The best trailer theft prevention advice is to
disable your trailer - Bulldog adjustable & removable
coupling - trailer wheel lock - steel cable thru
the trailer wheels with a lock - removing a tire …

It is a crime of opportunity - minimize the opportunity.

Are there any photos of the T's that can be posted along with identifying numbers, license plates?

I just saw the following post on Facebook from the Space City Ts:

"10-01-21 GREAT NEWS!!! Trailer and both cars have been found!!! They are on the way back to the hotel. God is great!"

That is fantastic news.

Wow! I can't recall when the last time trailer and cars were recovered so quickly!
A good longtime friend of mine's EMF was stolen about ten years ago. If I recall correctly, about two years later, the brass headlamps showed up on an internet advertisement related to a garage sale. Someone spotted them, alerted said friend, police were notified and a month or two later lead to recovery of most of the car. Radiator and several other things had been removed and sold. Trailer if I recall was never recovered? (Maybe my memory is going?)
I am very pleased to hear these have been recovered!

Hats off to the LAW enforcement and public security cameras for facilitating this rapid recovery. I personally have seen the trailer and both cars Since they were returned - very minimal damage. The owner is extremely lucky and he knows it. Again - thank you to ALL who made this recovery possible. Also - a BIG thanks to the TV station for filming and airing the theft - without them - recovery may have been impossible. Lesson learned : hide a GPS tracker with a stand alone battery on your T trailer and in your antique cars if possible!

I
I’m on the Texas T Party.... Another lesson learned: put a dadgum LOCK on your trailer hitch and refuse to park the trailer 5 miles in an unsecured lot !!

And here is the rest of the story - https://www.kcentv.com/article/news/loc ... 156e89d9e0
"According to Guseman, the antique cars were bought in Bellmead on Thursday for $5,000 but the buyers called the Bellmead Police Department after seeing that the cars were actually stolen. He said the cars have some damage on them but that he is ecstatic to have them and the trailer back in his possession. "

I assume they called the cops after the deal was made and before the 5K changed hands. Why is it so hard to put a lock on the trailer? At least they had a gps. Maybe need 2. Hide one in a car.

Doesn't GPS require an exposed small antenna bubble to function? The little bit I have dealt with GPS all had one. Once, when visiting in Hawaii, we used a rental car for several days. We got delayed by one tourist trap and had an appointment at another many miles away. One of the few times in my life I exceeded the legal limit by more than small amount for more than a very short distance. I knew the rental car had GPS, so I 'accidentally' let my map slip over the bubble on the dash. (Call me paranoid?) Yes, the GPS was disabled.
While I am in favor of using the systems available, I don't know how reliable they really are? And I suspect thieves know how to disable them.
I would hope they use a terrestrial signal to alert authorities of probable theft? I would hope they would transmit by terrestrial means a last known location immediately if the GPS is interfered with? But how would the unit know the difference between an actual theft and a legitimate interference due to parking location? (My old engineer's brain is running dozens of scenarios!)

Using GPS, locks, boots, etc, are all good ideas. It might also be helpful to paint or have painted some large, eye-catching graphics of some kind, or have a favorite photo put on a "wrap" and applied on both sides and the rear of the trailer to make it stand out. That might discourage a thief from stealing it in the first place, and would certainly make it easier to spot. Some kind of graphic across the upper front panel would be good, too.

It is also highly recommended to put something large and identifiable on the roof of enclosed trailers so that they can be easily spotted from the air! Helicopters, people in tall buildings, can spot something when the news goes out after a theft. Somewhere, there should be a numbering system for such a thing? Maybe just the trailer's license number would be good?

The reason the trailer and T’s were found pretty quick is the ignorance and outright stupidity of the guy or guys who stole the trailer. The law had all the necessary info at the git go. They had the guys license no., picture of the truck that stold it and then getting a tip of them selling the T’s. Boy how dumb can you get. The weed, drugs or whatever they were on fried their brains.
And yes the trailer should have been secured better than it was to begin with.
Two things you can’t out run. Helicopters and cell phones.

We were at our Grandkids birthday party and just got home when I saw this posted. All took place within 30 miles of my place here in central Texas. I’m wondering about the so called buyer in Bellmead. Hmmmmmmmmmm
