Anyone seen a collapsed carburetor float and if so what the cause might be.
This is a Holly G on a 1925 TT.

Can you identify the float material ? If it's some kind of synthetic (plastic) it would be a latter-day replacement that has succumbed either to an unusual amount of heat or perhaps elements in the ever-changing brew that gasoline has become in recent years. The original floats were either cork or brass.

FWIW, the Holley G, introduced in 1914, was phased out by 1921 I believe. (careful archivists will inform us correctly). The Holley G is a fine carb that will work well on most any year T or TT, and replacement floats are readily available from T parts suppliers.

Upon further examination, it is a plastic, hollow float that has collapsed.
It does not appear to have gas inside the float.
