People who know me are familiar with my affliction of trying different carburetors on my 23 runabout. I like to figure out how each one works and get them up and going for a good workout. Here are the carburetors I found at Hershey this year … all except the “straight through” example on the left which is mounted on a Metz intake manifold I brought home last week. I’m anxious to try out the Master Carburetor on the bottom but don’t have any updraft manifold that will fit. Would like to hear from anyone who might have something they can spare that would work.

I would be interested in your experienced assessment with the straight thru.
Performance difference over the sway back, Idle & overall running. Have you got one tuned to run well?

Mark, I have a nifty little adaptor here somewhere, I’ll see if I can locate. It swivels so carb can be used wherever the flange is oriented and also slotted so different bolt patterns can be used. I think you are the guy who should have it.
I bought a NOS Master carb from an Amish antique shop a couple of years ago ( go figure ) and it was a work of art!

Regarding the straight through carburetor in that photograph. I ran that for several months and it was a great little carb … the best “stock” carburetor for the T. Starts easy enough with two priming strokes and after warming up you turn down the needle for better economy.

This needs an off center (to clear the generator) updraft manifold.

Gotcha, have one of those, too. They used to be offered in Lang’s.

Here is a pic of my haul. Most items are for my 1912 Flanders, but I did pick up a set of front and rear Model T chassis lifting bars from R.V. Anderson and a Model T book.
