Steering wheel wooden rim construction

Post by Corey Walker » Wed Oct 13, 2021 10:30 pm

It seems like I read before that the original steering wheels were one piece of wood with one finger joint. I sanded the old paint from this one and it is a single finger joint but on 2 pieces of wood, an inner and an outer. I’ve seen wheel rims advertised as “2 piece”. I pictured 2 halves put together, not 2 one piece rings glued together. Is this how they all were made?
