Radiator Badge

Post by mbowen » Thu Oct 14, 2021 9:18 am

This radiator badge came on my new-to-me ‘24 Touring. Does anyone on here know it’s significance? The car came from the estate of a gentleman from Pleasant Plains, Ohio, the opposite corner of the state from Akron.

The badge indicates that the vehicle's owner was a member of the Akron AAA. I'm guessing, but it may also indicate that vehicle is eligible for AAA free road service.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
American_Automobile_AssociationThe American Automobile Association (the "AAA" or "Triple-A") was founded on March 4, 1902, in Chicago, Illinois, in response to a lack of roads and highways suitable for automobiles. At that time, nine motor clubs with a total of 1,500 members banded together to form the Triple-A. Those individual motor clubs included the Chicago Automobile Club, Automobile Club of America, Automobile Club of New Jersey, and others. Members received badges for display as a method of membership identification (Today they get an ID card and bumper sticker).

This owner/caretaker is proud to be born in Elyria, and was thrilled to find this rad badge at a swap meet.
