Stromberg M-1 carburetor
Does anyone have experience running a Stromberg M-1 updraft carburetor? I was planning to run a Model B Zenith updraft, but was wondering if a Stromberg M-1 would be better? Performance? Idle?, Mileage?

Re: Stromberg M-1 carburetor
I answered my own question. Checked for previous posts and found where the late, Great Uncle Stan Howe stated they were "good carbs". All I can do is try both the M-1 and the Model B Zenith and see which one that I like, better.

Terry, if you need any spares, I have two M1s in my swap meet stock.

I purchased a MB1 from Stan and recieved it just a couple weeks before he passed away. He claimed the MB1 was the late Ralph Ricks favorite carb.

Re: Stromberg M-1 carburetor
Is an M1 the same as an MB1?

Re: Stromberg M-1 carburetor
I have a customer who runs a speedster with a four valve overhead. After a little experimentation we ran an Stromberg M-1 and he reports:
“ Please answer and tell them one of your customer states great performance, good idle, runs a little rich on #4. If leaned out engine back fires”

Re: Stromberg M-1 carburetor
Although I have a restored vaporizer setup for my 27 coupe which I can use to put back stock, I also have a stock exhaust manifold and Chaffins high volume intake with I can use with a Stromberg OF and and a few other carbs, if I feel like experimenting. Because I will be using a higher lift cam and a Prus head, I plan to run a Model A intake and exhaust with either a Model B Zenith ot the Stromberg M-1 carb to see how they perform. What ever performs best, at low, cruising, or high speeds, is what I'll probably settle on.ModelTWoods wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 6:02 pmI answered my own question.
