Anyone have a Crosley and need hubcaps?
I am going to a farm and home auction tomorrow and as I was reviewing the pictures of the farm equipment I saw 3 Crosley hubcaps hanging in the rafters. The auctioneer has them listed in the sale but they have some scuff marks that may be able to be polished out.
If you are interested in them send me an email to my home: djseth52(at) gmail.com no later then 8:00 am Saturday Oct 16. thats when I'm leaving to attend. Let me know how much you want to spend. They can be seen on auctionzip Tim Hunt Auctions. The auction is in Jefferson, Ohio and starts at 10:00 am. That is the only car stuff I saw.

I don't think that I have seen a Crosley on the road in 30+ years!

I'd want to check any junk piles on the property for more Crosley parts.

Look for some Aerojet boat engine parts.
A friend needs a new Aerojet frame for his 1955 Hinkley boat.

Re: Anyone have a Crosley and need hubcaps?
When Crosley went under, they sold the design patents and tooling for the small four cylinder engine used in the cars to Aerojet.
Aerojet continued to market the Crosley-designed power plant to a multitude of companies. The little fours saw use in refrigerated truck trailers, boats, military power generators, and- car engines! A company based in San Diego, California produced a little utility vehicle based on the original Crosley Farm-O-Road model. It was called a Crofton Bug and was aimed at farmers and individuals that needed a small jeep-like vehicle.
That little four-banger saw use long after the name Crosley was gone. The name "AEROJET" was stamped on the upper stamped sheet metal cam cover. It makes it easy to tell if the engine was produced by Crosley or Aerojet.

Re: Anyone have a Crosley and need hubcaps?
Ned, that 1955 Hinkley boat is only about 20 feet long.
Crosley sold out in 1955 and the Aerojet is basically the later Crosley engine mounted in the very rear of this boat.
It is fairly small and must have been designed for lakes and rivers.
The mounting is kind of rusted away and making restoring the boat rather difficult.
Finding any information on the engine or another mounting frame seems impossible.

Re: Anyone have a Crosley and need hubcaps?
I can't help with hub caps but I can bring a Model T into the conversation. During the magical time I was building my Speedster (1966 or so) our friend John would stop by in his Crosley Super Sport to check the progress. It was an enchanting time for him too as he only drove it a few years. It was a 1951 or 52 I believe. I could ride with him and touch the pavement.

I hope you all have treasured memories of the cars at different times even if some of you haven't been doing it forever. It's always delightful to remember the early days.Rich
When did I do that?
