26 roadster, side of cowl wood….There’s no holes top or bottom to put a screw through….just go all the way through the wood into the bracket? Super glue?

Sorry if the picture is sideways!

No wood there, cardboard kick panel is held by lower tabs on riser, and long strip of wood in door hinge upright for tacks.

Came in the kit, figured it would help tack the foot panel in there up top….oh well….thanks! This is the problem of owning an 18 while trying to put together a 6-7….no examples!

I have seen two different methods of retention. Early ‘26 had a piece of thin gauge sheet metal with one rivet attached to the center of the brace. This was bent outwards and down over the piece of wood to provide some retention. Later cowls have a tab punched in the metal brace and that tab sticks out enough to interfere and retain the wood block sufficiently.

Am in the belief that Ford continued to remove wood pieces from the Improved Open cars where he could.
On later open bodies, the floorboard riser has tabs to retain the lower portion of the cowl kick cardboard panel.
And same at the top, that is reason for the single tab there, fit the panel under that tab, flexing the panel under after fitting it into the lower tabs.
Then the only tacks needed to retain the cowl kick boards is the wood strip placed in the hinge upright. (The door check isn't factory , added for practical usage)
