Attached is a photo of the pad between the rear spring and the bottom of the body on my 1927 coupe. I have not found one in the suppliers catalogs. I probably can reuse it or make one, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a replacement.

That pad is between the frame, (not the spring), and the body. Not aware if one even belongs there, but others will know for sure.

Lang’s has a rubber pad for the rear spring of the 1921-1927 (www.modeltford.com/item/3823.aspx). I put one on my 1926 coupe. Part number 3842 for $1.95. Jim Patrick

Yes there should be a pad between the frame and the body, attached to the bottom of the trunk floor, but you will have to make your own.

On my ‘19 Touring I made one from a old leather belt but think one made of Kevlar from a used transmission band would work well also….

With a yellow body, it is safe to say that THAT particular pad is not original. With respect to whether or not one belongs there at all, I'd say that if it is not riveted to the body, then it does not belong there. At the speed that cars were being assembled, I cannot imagine that something was laid on the frame to be captured by the body, nor can I imagine that it was glued to the body when there is scant evidence that glue was used at all in the fabrication outside of the Linderman wood joints which would have been done early in the processing of the raw wood manufacture.

I can see advantages of having a pad IF there is interference between body/frame, but that area should be a clearance area in the first place

Scott, the body pad is riveted to the trunk floor. Factory installed. Keeps floor from squeeking under load.

I had assumed that if original, it would be riveted.
I have done little work on bodies and at that, only runabouts with wood in that area. Thank you for the clarification. Nice to learn new things.

My 27 Roadster had the pad riveted to the underside of the turtle.

WARNING! I had one on a T for years. During a removal & reinstall, It slipped out of place. Got stuck 2/3 up into place between the frame & spring. Took dynamite & pry bars to remove. Made a big job out of nothing. Lesson learned: Glue it in place once trimmed to fit. Or use leather.(original?)

Jeff, I am interested in the paint shown in your photo. Is that in a 1926 or 1927 couple? Is it the original paint?

It’s anti-squeak material, as Jeff said and you can see rivets turned over in the original pic. Should be rot resistant , and sometimes army surplus places have it in real dark olive drab, also treated. If you cannot find it, I think I have a foot somewhere and would be glad to send to you. I think a chunk of fire hose sliced in half would work great in that area. Heavy canvas on one side and rubber on the other.

Bruce, my coupe is a 1926, repainted 50 years ago in what was then thought to be channel green, model A kewanee green per the Les Henry Restoration Handbook.

Jeff, Can you post a photo of the outside of your car so I can see the paint?

You know, in all of the years of reading the Forum, I believe that this is the first time I've seen or heard of this part. It reminds me of the 1970's when I first got into the hobby, where EVERYONE was discovering little-known tidbits of Ts and were first starting to seriously discuss and consider whether or not those old blue and red T's might have actually really been that color from the factory...

I checked my Lang's 2021 catalog last night after reading these posts. Lang's lists both the body to frame pad and the body to spring pad, but lists the year for the body to frame pad as 1926, only, if I remember correctly. Why wouldn't a 1927 have one, too?

I supsect that any clearance between the turtle floor and the frame crossmember would disappear after a few 50 or 100 pound blocks of ice were dropped on it.
