Serial number 3086, where is it now?

I have an article about my hometown of Alexandria, Louisiana, and it discusses a gentleman who owned a 1909 Ford Model T back in the 1950s.

The article states it's serial number 3086.

Where is this car now? Just curiosity, since it was running streets I know well.

I have the article and picture saved but can't seem to post it here.

Thanks David Coco Winchester Va.

After over 100 years you will be lucky to find it. Anything is possible but the odds are really high. If you have the name of the owner and location that’s probably the best starting point plus a lot of research.

Owner in 1956 was M.N. Sandefur of Alexandria, Louisiana. I just figured with the search for early T's that there would be someone who followed the numbers and owners. It's a newspaper article that states it's a 1909 with serial number 3086, of course I know how newspapers can easily skew facts, that could be incorrect.

David- I checked the HCCA roster online. Number 3086 isn’t listed, but 3024 and 3182 are. About 1/2 of the 1909 Ford’s don’t have the serial number listed. You could check with Lindsey at the HCCA office to see if it’s been recorded with the club in recent years.

David,

If 3084 survived into the 1950s as a running fairly original car -- it most likely is still around barring some major disaster such as a garage fire etc. An early May 1909 car would have been very disirable then as well as now.

Note if the only thing with the 3084 number on it was a reproduction ID plate and the car was actaully a put together from 1915-23 parts then it easily could have been parted our or restored as the appropriate year for the engine.

If you could snag some photos that would probably help figure out where it fell on the mostly original to mostly later parts?

Good luck -- you never know until you start looking. Could it still be there somewhere near by?

Respectfully submitted,
