Is this a TT truck bearing ??

Post by dobro1956 » Thu Nov 25, 2021 11:07 pm

Going thru some more boxes from the auction. Found these two bearings. One is an original Ford bearing and the other is the modern replacement for it. The bearing is approx 4-1/2-inch OD, 2-3/8 ID, and 7/8 inch thick. I did not have a mic handy so I just measured it with a ruler. The picture shows the original part number with TT and Ford script. So is this a TT truck part, or for something more modern? Thanks in advance for any info

As Adam notes below, it is the factory number of the inner bearing. It is not illustrated in the Ford parts book I have but is listed as part '1018'.

The dimensions are too small for inside diff bearings (approx 5" OD and 3" ID).

TT125 is indeed the factory number for the TT inner rear axle bearings.

I’m pretty sure the new bearings are made by SKF. Part number is 212-2Z.

I have been away from the shop a couple days. I'll try to remember to look at the part number tomorrow.

The picture on the SKF box says "6212-" but I can't quite make out the something after the hyphen.

Sorry to take so long to post the number.

It is SKF part number 6212/C3 on the bearing itself and on the box I can only read 6212-? The number or numbers are not readable

I looked in my TT parts pile and I do have a differental with the bearings still in place I'll try to check this bearing to the ones on the differential this afternoon.

212 is the original side thrust rux bearing #. Current # 7212. 6212 would be the same dimensionally without side thrust.(never use in a rux)
As far a s TT, I know nothing. I would not guess them to use the same bearings. The alphabet behind the number indicates cage & seal info.

I compared the bearing to one on a old TT diferental. The outside OD is the same. But the ID of the new bearing is larger than on the TT diferental. Does anyone have a center casting that the bearings fit on or an original bearing to measure the ID of the bearing or OD of the casting?
