My grandfather always referred to cars as machines. When he spoke of his car or truck he said "The Machine". It led me to believe "car" was not a prevalent term in his day, so it always struck me when I saw an older use of "car" like in the banner in front of that Chevrolet dealer.

I always enjoy seeing your old photographs!

In the first picture, it looks like Queen Elizabeth, however, she was not even born at at that time.
In the picture with the wheel jacked up, I wonder what that was just in front of the wheel? Would it have been an auxiliary transmission"
On the picture of the Chevrolet dealer, I wonder if those two Fords parked next to the building were used cars or employee cars?
It is surprising how many people took pictures with their cars in front of church!

Which came first? HRH Elizabeth, or the hat?

Tenvoorde Ford is still in business here in Minnesota.

They are considered the oldest automobile dealership in the U.S.

Since 1903 I believe.
