So I get a bill from North Texas Tollway Authority for $40.76 for driving on NTTA Toll Road and TEXpress Lanes/Tolled Highway Lanes. Guess when they contacted Oregon DMV they forgot to add the HV part of the plate number, HV is for heavy trailers, so they only used the plate number. The plate number is for my 1925 cutdown touring. I knew as soon as I saw the name on the bill before even opening, the owner information could only have come from Oregon DMV, because that is the only place that I use my full name. Even the year is wrong, they listed it as a 2025, well the computer did anyway. Glad there is a photo of the plate. Got some phone calls to make next week and get this cleared up. Happy New Year to me!

Hurray for the SYSTEM. We got parking tickets repeatedly from Washington state DMV for our 1915 T which had never been out of Idaho. After several phone calls and photos from them we finally convinced a human that our 1915 Model T was not the 1973 Toyota they photographed. A friend had a similar experience with his 1925 Depot Hack which hasn't seen daylight in 40 years. We both have Idaho antique plates.

A friend of mine have an old 1910 Maxwell brass car with the historic licenceplate A 77.
One day he got a letter that A 77 was cought by a Automatic Traffic Control camera speeding. I think it was 80 km/h (50 mph) in a 50 km/h (35 mph) zone.
Fortunately when you get the mail, a nice photo was accompanying the bill.......
There he could clearly see, that it was an Ambulance with flashing lights on and with a local firebrigade licenceplate A 77!
It was an ambulance from Copenhagen that have that many ambulances and the point is that some fire- and rescuabrigades are allowed to use their own licenseplates typically with the citys seal etc.
Now my friend was not the owner of that ambulance, so he called the police and said they have to try a little harder.
It was obviuous that some clerk was processing all the photos taken and did not know about licenseplate for ambulances.

They pulled that stunt on me, alleging that my '27 Ford had been photographed on some tollway in South Texas. I finally got through their defenses to speak with a human being and explained that the car was a 1927 Ford and I am absolutley certain that it has never traveled on any part of their system, ever. I bought the plates on the car in person, and I attached them to the car, and they are still on the car, and the number on the plates has not changed. NO one drives my car but me, and I haven't used a toll road in Texas since 1970, and I don't plan to ever use one again. I don't like the way they do business, and I'll drive around through North Dakota to get to Corpus Christi if I have to to avoid toll roads. I'm keeping their smug little bill, in case they come back at me. From what I could tell, 3 or 4 agencies seem to have some jurisdiction in the toll road mess, but they all say the other guy is who you need to talk to. The phone lady kept referring to "my account", and "settling my account". I kept reminding her that I do not have an account with them, and I never have had an account or any other contact with them.

Nope, it is in my back yard under a tarp. The engine has been out for over 3 months. The plate that is shown in the photograph is a Permanent Oregon trailer plate for semi's. H over V followed by the same plate number on my 1925. Besides the fact, I have never been that far east, and never have been to Texas.

I keep getting photos of a car from the 30's driving up a restricted lane for express buses only. The photo shows a 1930's Washington State license plate. Since I do not own the car or the plate I ignored the 3 reminders from the police department.

I just got one that was stamped in red, Final Notice summons will be issued for your arrest. I finally paid attention to the addressee and it was my mother. Now the old woman has been dead for nearly 20 years and I'm fairly sure she is not driving anymore. So I send a return note telling them where she was and her plot number in the cemetery . I also told them that when they dig her up and take her to jail, give me a call and I will pay her bail!!!!!!

This sounds like a traffic stop I had about 20 years ago. A cop lit me up as I crossed
the Deschutes River bridge, westbound on I-84 at about 2300hrs on a Friday night. He
said he clocked me at 85 in a 65. I asked him where he did that clocking, and he wrote
it on the ticket. I then asked how he went from where this happened (he said he was
eastbound) to where he made contact. He said he drove east to the 97 interchange,
then pursued me westbound. I crunched his miles against mine, and that OSP Impala
never got under 395mph to catch up to me, including the stop sign at 97 and the left
turn across traffic to re-enter I-84.

I was pretty excited to perform a comedy routine for the court in John Day, and worked
up a nice map overlay with all the pertinent details. When I called to confirm my trial
time, the judge asked my if my name was really "Bent". When I said no, and confirmed it
by my driver's license, the charge was dismissed. Much to my disappointment.

Oh I see. It made me think of my sister as one time she received a toll way ticket for her mini van and the picture of it was on the back of the rollback used to tow it to get repaired! The rollback was in violation but the picture was of her van on the back!

My toll bill was from a road in Denver. The alleged vehicle, my 1973 Suburban, hasn't been in Colorado, much less Denver, since 1993, before the road existed. I don't believe the old beast has ever been to Denver. So why did I get the bill? The state of Kansas used the same number on my antique car plate and a commercial truck plate. Pretty smart, huh?

I avoid them too. I suppose I could afford to waste the money, but I pay taxes that support alternate good roads so I use them. In some places, like bridges, there's no other practical choice. But in most cases there's another way.

These toll road creeple seem to believe firmly in the principle of guilty until proven innocent, and they sure as heck need to refine their billing dragnet.

I would consider just paying except, now that they have the wrong information in their system, when and if this happens again, I could/would get more bills sometime in the future. The two dates on the bill were more than a month apart, so it took them some time to get the information from Oregon. My impression is, that trailer is in the state of Texas or close by.

Just embrace The Fee, and start writing checks. New day, new hobby.

Wadda yah know, your cars are at least a hundred years advanced, being self driving! Maybe ya need to rope and hogtie them or chain ‘‘em to a tree to keep ‘‘em home? Have they sent yah the gasoline bills for all these travels? That’ll hurt your hip pocket!!!

I am glad someone caught the year they used! Not even built yet. Maybe I should check the flux-capacitor more often.

On a similar topic...automated phone calls, I keep trying to get them to put the extended warranty on my '13 Ford. Maybe they'll do it when I get an odometer on ot!
