Another group of 100 year old Model T - Coupes.

Post by Been Here Before » Sat Jan 01, 2022 3:02 pm

It is officially 2022. With this year a group of model Ford Coupes will be 100 years old. I am limiting this to just coupes (see below).

I started a project to establish a data base of Coupe motor number from 1922 and their body number. A few have helped. Today 1 January 2022, I am going to list (for privacy no names will be given), of those Coupes that were shared.
  • State Motor Number (VIN) Body Number Date of production.

    Miss. - B184367 -

    HI 5922567 B193602 30 April 1922

    PA 6071252 B213663 3 June 1922

    Oh 6275206 ? 18 July 1922

    ? 6315681 B241903 27 July 1922

    ? 64071xx B261740 16 August 1922
To those Coupe owners who sent in the information - Thank you.

Back Ground Stuff.

In years past (2016) I tried to establish a record or list of 1922 Model T Coupes that were still extant and held by members of the forum.

At the time I posted this: (http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/599638/624351.html)

From the data available, the Coupe body was manufactured for Ford by Walter O Briggs Manufacturing Company, Detroit Michigan (McCalley, 1994, 419-422). "Auto Industries" of 12 October 1922 stated that in 1922 , 'Rouge Plant Builds Most Ford Bodies,' Ford Used various manufactures including the Beaudette Company, Pontiac, Michigan. The Beaudette Company, according to the 1922 article, built roadster bodies for Ford.

The Rouge plant in 1922 was building the phaeton and two-door sedans. The phaeton bodies are built in numbers of 3015 daily (in 1922), with an average of 2650 daily. Sedan bodies are manufactured at 900 daily. Bodies for Coupes and a new four door sedan are manufactured by the Briggs Company and not by Ford. These two styles are low production (1922) cars averaging 5000 daily.(from "Auto Industries")

Please list in part (B ## *****) or all (B 21 12345) the body number found on your door sill of your Coupe. This is for the 1922 Coupe car only. Thank you
