Looking at the U-joint? Not much else there to give a problem unless they snagged a Jackalope.
Looks like they spattered wet mud on the top when it was folded down.

It is a 1913 touring, they are looking for the source of the wood cracking sound coming from under the rear door !

If they had been driving through that part of Wyoming for a long time at Model T speed, maybe they just wanted a change of scenery.
