I have a side clamp on mirror on my 160A that fits in the gap at the front edge of the door and need something similar for my ‘25 Coupe but the Coupe has no seam/gap around the door. The only option appears to be the side mirror that fits over the door hinge.

Vendors sites say the bracket is not long enough to fit over the hinge and a portion must be ground off to fit. I assume one paints the ground off area for rust formation. Has anyone installed one of these and did you have any problems? Can I also assume if one has any engine vibrations the mirror is pretty useless?

I have a 24 Coupe but no door hinge mounted mirrow mounted on it. BUT I have a 21 Touring with side mirrows and they are pretty steady with my non balanced engine.
The reason is that they are fairly heavy. The cheap clamp on mirrows in the catalogs aren’t real steady and they are just to flimsy in my opinion.
I got one from Snyder’s that’s made from 5/8” bar stock that works pretty well. It’s sturdy and well made.

Put them on our 25 coupe. You will have to grind off about a 1/16” for the inside to slip over the hinge. Touched the ground part up with epoxy. Been on the 10 years. No issues!

I installed one of those hinge pin mounted mirrors on our '25 coupe about 10 years ago. I ground just a bit off of the I D of the bracket so it would fit over the hinge as was mentioned in the catalog. The bracket is diecast so it won't rust. The original hinge pin was a bit too large to fit in the mirror bracket holes, so I just used a smaller pin. Worked for me. Maybe they are made differently now? JMHO Dave
