Question about Kingston Coil Box latches

Post by Tbird » Mon Jan 17, 2022 11:29 am

So I have an original Kingston coil box no lid. The brass latches on the side appear to be flush (straight across) the top of the Kingston box. I have a set of repo latches that are not straight across. I looked at another picture of an original without a lid and it too the latches are flush on the box… so here’s the question are the latches on the lid flush as well? Does anyone have a picture of an original Kingston box with the lid that shows this? Restored Kingston boxes?

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Frank, I saw that on the encyclopedia as well. The picture is not very clear as to the top latch. I can’t tell if it’s flush across the bottom or has that radius and points on the bottom.
Thanks

Looks to me that the cup/bowl shape locks over the lower same shape area, place lid latch so they can line up this way and position is set.
Also looking at the parts picture above the lid latch is longer for the reason above.
