for the weak design on some 1913 bodys

Don't have copy of those part #s, but Bruce's C-D Ency. (another reason to buy this $50 super C-D) has picture of the frame bracket and the reinforcement body bracket installed on a body. And attached is copy of Ford instructions for install.

Re: 1913 body braces
I have a '13 Touring in the shop currently with those rear support brackets & the owner has access to a very substantial machine & fabrication shop and is considering doing a limited run of these if there's interest.

Re: 1913 body braces
I sold these a few years ago. This shows common wear and abuse and possibly some detail.
When did I do that?

Re: 1913 body braces
I need a pair. There are two widths of sills if I remember correctly.

Re: 1913 body braces
Here is the information that I was referring to this morning:
JAN 28 1913 Acc. 575, Letter 395, Ford Archives
T-5637 Body Reinforcing Bracket Bolt. "Four required, Touring Car, 1913."
T-5453 Body Reinforcing Bracket. New Drawing. "Two required, Touring Car, 1913."
T-5638. Sketch showing location of Body Reinforcing Bracket. "We have made this sketch for the purpose of showing customers who are having trouble with the touring car bodies how the trouble can be overcome. The material has been ordered and we will be able to supply same in the near future. For your information will state that the construction of the body has been improved upon and undoubtedly will not need this reinforcement as soon at the change can be brought about. We will therefore order only enough material of the above parts as shown on sketch to take care of the bodies which have already been built."

Re: 1913 body braces
Scott, The "Ford Sales Bulletin", dated May 1913 states that these braces are now available to dealers. My January 1913 touring has the frame brackets that are bolted to the frame. There is no doubt that Ford knew there was a problem with the weakness of the sills and these braces were retrofitted to earlier (pre-May 1913) cars. I hope this helps. Russ Furstnow

Re: 1913 body braces
Hi Rajo, if you strike out with you guy, I have a person I can speak to. I'd need a template and then a list of who wants them with sill measurements for each. Let me know what you think.

Hi RajoRacer,
Did you ever have luck with making up some braces? If so, I can be reached at gefrobinson@yahoo.com

Re: 1913 body braces
Fella's picking up the T on Monday and said he's going to make patterns after he gets it back to his shop - he's not one to drag his feet on a project - I'll attempt to stay on top of it.

Re: 1913 body braces
My friend has removed a support bracket and is currently making patterns - if anyone might be interested, let me know. I have no idea on production costs as of yet but he mentioned having a dozen sets made up..
