Re: Take a look
Wonderful pics, Tom. That may be the G A Boekling , which ran from Sandusky to cedar point from 1908 until the 1960s. If so, I’ve never seen that monument. I’ll do some more looking. I believe it’s the Jackson Street pier in Sandusky,

Re: Take a look
Tim, I don't think it is the Boeckling the pilot houses on the Boeckling are on the upper deck with the stack in between and side wheels are pretty much hidden behind the facade on the side of the ferry. The ferry in Toms pic the side wheels have a much more pronounced semicircular facade and I don't see a pilot house. Jim

Re: Take a look
Thanks Jim, I had hoped you would look comment. I believe you are correct, and I am wr..wr….wrong. Not the first or last time. I focused on the large monument and looked quite a bit last night. There was a fountain there for years, but I couldn’t find anything with a large monument like that. I really blew up the photo and the ship is close, but no cigar! Great pics, Tom. When is the picture book coming out!

Re: Take a look
I have been to Plymouth Rock back in the 1990's. In 1926 my grandfather and uncle drove a T from Los Angeles to Plymouth Rock and through part of Ontario Canada and back to Los Angeles. He left a notebook with names and places of people he visited along the way. Years later I visited a few of them during the 1990's. They were young when the first visit was made and in their 90's when I saw them.

First impressions - zoom in on expressions. I was there several times prior to 1970 and the latest setting is different. Y
es that's the unreal deal - The "rock" was moved several times AND
"In 1741, they were gonna build a wharf here," Villamaino says. "And one of the elders of the church, his name was Elder Faunce, he came down here to the beach to say goodbye to the rock. He was in his 90s, and he had heard from his father who heard from the original Mayflower passengers that this was where they stepped when they landed here, and he told the townspeople.
"But it really doesn't — for lack of a better term — it doesn't 'go viral' until 1769, when the people here in Plymouth start celebrating Forefathers' Day and the story is retold." At that point, the story of Plymouth Rock started to become a legend — at the same time that the American Revolution was starting to take root.

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.
