Northern Michigan MTFCA/MTFCI T Chapter
Anyone interested in starting a local chapter of the MTFCA and/or MTFCI in northern Michigan? The MTFCI site has good info on starting a local chapter, insurance for club activities, etc. We will need 5 members to get started. Charlevoix, Petoskey, Traverse City, Gaylord, Michigan. Could include all northern lower and upper peninsula, if Trolls and Uoopers can mix. Responses here are welcome, but if you are serious, please contact me thru a private message with your contact information.

Jeff,
I’ve helped start the latest MTFCA chapters and am working on a few more. It would be a privilege to help you start a chapter - it’s not hard and I’ve got all the examples you’d need. You can email me at kltagert@cox.net
Plus, several chapters are dual clubs so members can partake in both national tours and such.

Caseville? I live on the other side of the Thumb near Forester. Our Jamboree saw 94 Model T's invade Caseville last August. Welcome to the forum! How long have you had your T and watcha got? Send me an email and I'll put in touch with other area Model T'ers if you like.

Re: Northern Michigan MTFCA/MTFCI T Chapter
We have 8 so far, more than enough to get started. I submitted the application to MTFCI, they will vote on it next week. I have contacted everyone I know of by e-mail or PM, if you have not received anything from me, please PM me and provide your e-mail address so I can contact you directly. Received some nice art from Tim and have attached it. It would make a nice T shirt...pun intended.

Re: Northern Michigan MTFCA/MTFCI T Chapter
We are now at 14 members. I expect to receive the OK from the MTFCI board soon. I will let everyone know when that happens and distribute the roster to all members then. At this point I am planning on contacting members by email, so those who have not provided me your email address yet please get that to me, that would be Herbert, and Chuck's two brothers. You can PM me if you do not have my email address.
To get the ball rolling I plan to regurgitate the boilerplate charter, bylaws, and any other paperwork the National organization wants from us. I am handling the executive function until such time the chapter members want to or need to elect officers.
My vision is to essentially have a database that members can use to contact each other, get together to talk, drive, repair, and learn Model T.
We are spread out kind of thin, no two members are in the same town. I consider driving from Charlevoix to Petoskey in my Model T to be a long distance, and on a 55 MPH road where most people drive above 60 MPH is not my idea of fun. I prefer a dirt road, back road, and seasonal road. If I can map out a back road trip to Petoskey, that would be fun. If we want to get a few Model T's together for a drive we will be able to make it a chapter activity and be covered under the MTFCI insurance. Anyone planning on doing any interesting or unusual repairs and would like some help, and, or, make it a clinic, that could be a Chapter function too. Individual cars are covered by individual owners insurance, but any liability above and beyond personal liability is covered by MTFCI, so making a get together of even a couple of cars or a clinic is worth making it a chapter event.
I plan on hosting or attending zero meetings, I do not care to get together for the sole purpose of having a meeting, follow Roberts Rules of Order, having official meeting minutes, or anything else... No mailings, no dues, no President, no Vice President, no Secretary, no Treasurer, no politics, no winning, no complaining, no nothing. However, after I get the charter information from MTFCI, we will see, lets cross those bridges when we get there. If the majority of the members have a different idea, well make a motion and we can vote on it, but for now, just to get started, lets keep this simple.
Thanks to all who have responded and I look forward to meeting you soon. All follow-on correspondence will be thru an email and not on the MTFCA Forum.
