Does anyone know what gauge steel the 26-27 Coupe Deck Lid Support Arm is? I am trying to make my own.

12 gauge or 13 gauge will work. Mine was 13 but l had 12 on hand. The geometry is complex if you want to make your own. I think I still have a CAD drawing if you need one. You can print it full scale and stick it to the blank with contact adhesive. I used 12 GA because I had full-hard steel.

Okay, thank you very much!! I have a tracing of an original and we have several ideas when it comes to cutting the inside.

As for the hole that mounts it to the other bracket to the lid, where is that located? I don't have it on my drawing and I see some with two holes and some with one. Also, is it attached with a rivet or a screw?

I just realized that you are looking at a Coupe part. I have a '26 Runabout and the deck lid support and its mounting bracket are different than yours. The slots may be the same but the rivet holes are different. I don't have a drawing for the Coupe but maybe someone can use this drawing for their Runabout.

Okay Mark. Yes I think the slot is the same but the hole(s) may be different. Just need someone to take some measurements on an original.

Hi Tyler: My '26 is an arm's length away, what measurements on that lid strut assembly do you need?

I need the location of the hole that gets riveted to the other piece.

Sorry for delay, I was distracted by Marmot Phil.
I'll take a look and get back to you soon. Do you want to PM me with contact info so I can text you some pictures?

I'll just update here:
The support link for the trunk on my '26 coupe is 6 3/4" from the center of the rivet connecting the strut to the trunk lid to the notch in the link slot that engages the catch on the body. That dimension determines the position of the lid when it is open. The upper end of the slot in the link is 3 3/8" from the rivet center, a less critical measurement but one that allows the deck to fully close when the link if off the notch and sliding downward as the lid closes. And fwiw, the measured thickness of the link is 0.1315 on my rusty unrestored parts, probably was 10 ga originally?

I did take a couple pics which I can text to you if you wish.

All the best, jb

Thanks for the measurements, I am also looking for the location of the rivet hole for the strut?

My 26 Coupe has the strut bolted to a U-shaped piece that attaches by 2 small bolts to the side flange of the lid. Flattened out, it would be a T shape about 2" wide and maybe 2.5" high. I made a new one that puts the strut pivot further from the lid so as to raise the open lid to improve access.

Took this photo of another's '27 Coupe, close up of that deck support. May help your construction.
