I am trying to determine the year of my new project. This touring car has a 21 3/4inch hood with six louvers per side. There is a cowl so the hood does not reach the wood firewall. There is a battery box below the rear floorboard and I am sure this is a replacement engine/trans as there is a generator and starter motor. There is no ammeter. The black box mounts to the firewall and the key attaches to it. Radiator is brass and there is an acetylene generator but all running lights are painted. The radiator is probably not original.
Any ideas as to year of build?

As Scott eluded to - we would need a photo BUT from your description regarding "There is a cowl so the hood does not reach the wood firewall" - I would assume it's a 1915 or 1916.

If all the lamps are painted black then theoretically it should be a '16.
But with a 100+ year old car who knows.
Pictures are worth a thousand words.
What is the engine number, IF it is original to the car? That tells a lot of course.

He threw out "starter & generator" so not originally with a brass radiator car BUT the radiator could have been swapped out ?

Campbell, is this meant to be some kinda riddle ? Your descriptions are incongruous to any specific year model. Yes, picture(s) and engine serial number please.

'15 or '16 I would say.

With a later motor. Look @ s/n & casting dates on the block.

Single valve door. I agree with Steve except early '22 through '25 engine and trans. The serial # would narrow that down.

Yes the single valve door makes it 22 - 25 engine. Looks to me it has the later high head.

Did you get a title with the car? What does it say.
It does look like to me that it’s a 15-16 because of the hood former. Without seeing the rest of the car it may or may not have some later parts on it. Some parts would work and interchange but might be a little newer.

I wouldn’t worry about changing out parts to be more authentic but get it running and driving first than consider changing parts if you want to.

Lots of Model T’s have later parts on them and the engine being a little newer than the body type was done fairly often. A starter was’t used until 1919 so this driver wanted a starter instead of having to hand crank it. Could be that’s why it has a starter engine.
