What is involved in replacing the firewall? Do I need to lift the body?

No. Just bracket bolts, steering column, radiator rod, coil box, dash shield, etc. It's mounted outside the cowl, so it should be easy.

I did this late last Summer, I had to remove and replace the original for another issue, just as Steve said, it should be easy. The hardest part was/is removing the steering column, getting off the lever at the end of the control rod. The only difficulty that I ran into was one of the carriage bolts that mount the firewall to the brackets (that mount to the frame) decided it did not want to play nice anymore and chose that moment to do nothing but spin. No way to hold it or drive it out, so the bracket had to come out as well. If you need to remove the brackets, engine pans and the starter are not your friends, but all is well now.

I think most everything is out of the way. Most of the original firewall was burned.
