Here is an age old question. Why did people run with their tops down so much, even in cold weather?

Top up doesn't make it any warmer unless the side curtains are up and they restrict visibility. No big benefit to having it up unless it is raining or snowing.

Pic no. 2. See how the lack of the running board on modern cars has deprived the short in stature to see what's happening. I vote we bring them back. Why do trucks have all of the privilege.

Re/ top up, top down ? Speaking from personal experience, the warmth of the driver and passengers is not a factor at all. When it's hot and sunny, it's nice to have shade ! When it's windy, top up can be like navigating a small boat under sail. Any road, a few of the owners' manuals counsel that the best fuel economy is to be had with the top down and the windshield folded. This is true !

I'm a "top down snob"

I just think the experience is better with the wide open space. Better gas mileage too!
