Is there a daily list of serial numbers used in September 1917.

Yes. It's in Bruce McCalley's Model T Encyclopedia. If you don't have it I can look up the number for you.

There is a reference here to a book, 'Model T Ford' By Bruce McCalley containing daily production by serial #, suggesting 150+ pages needed to record the information. Monthly production is here, I Don't have the current version of MTF Encylopaedia, best, jb

James,
Thanks for the reply, but I was trying to find the exact day that my serial number was stamped. The block casting date says 9/22/17. I always thought that there normally is a couple weeks or a month between the serial number and the casting date. Mine appears to be a couple days possibly.

Your serial number 2,217,841 shows the assembly date is Sept 25, 1917. I have the digital version of the Encyclopedia on my PC and find it a very valuable resource.

Thank you very much Rich. My engine was assembled and stamped 3 days after the casting date.

The short timing between the cast date and assembly is very typical for 1917. Same day and next day examples are common as well for that year. The foundry must have been having a hard time keeping up with the production line.

I'll go beyond the date of Tuesday, September 25, 1917 (1918 model year) and guess second shift (early afternoon). Of course that assumes a steady pace of production through all three shifts. :)

My engine casting date is September 18th, 1916 and assembly date was September 23rd, 1916. They didn't waste much time.
