Water passages flush

I created a quick flushing setup using some clothes washer hoses, split shutoffs, and hose clamps.
It was amazing how much rust etc. was discharged from the hose.

Looks good but you'll have to enlighten us as to why the "Y" valve for water going in/coming out of the same spot? While you're at it, put white vinegar in it, if you can, warm up the engine, let it set a while, and flush like mad. More will come out. FWIW, and it can be a pain, and may need to wait til copper head gaskets get back on the scene, but the head should come off and check/clean all those little itty bitty water holes all along the block and head. They tend to plug up pretty bad that even flushing alone may not cure.

Thanks for the reply Tim.
This set up allows the user to reverse waterflow through the water passages to remove scale etc.
I put it together in about 30 minutes using some materials on hand, without much effort.
I welcome any suggestions etc. from members.
Here is a pic of the set up.

Steve,
That looks like a great idea.
What did you put between the shutoffs and the reducer? Not clear enough to tell. Thank you.

The set-ups I have seen included compressed air.

Thanks Steve, that's what I thought, but nice to hear confirmation. Looks like a good setup.
