Coil tester

I am building a hand crank coil tester. I have 2 coil rings both check out good
Using a battery charger and hacksaw blade as well as a compass. Magnets are
Charged
I can only get 3 volts out if it any advice?

Three Volts at hand crank speeds is about right.
The voltage doesn't matter to the ignition coil as it is a current operated device.

A lot of them don't even have volt meters. Mine doesn't. You might improve voltage a bit by closing the gap between the magnets and field coil. With the low speeds and lack of vibration associated with a HCCT, you don't have to have as large a gap as on a car.

thanks guys i got it going last night i had it wrong. it sparks nicely now i need to order some gauges i have been using my simpson
multi meter. i will post pics when i get it painted up. philip
