Today's adventure was our club's Dust-Off Tour. We would travel to the Museum of Idaho's “Genghis Khan: Conquest & Culture” exhibit of more than 300 original artifacts including ancient weapons, jewelry and domestic items. Most interesting. I confess I had remembered little of what I learned about the Mongrels in my school days. We gathered before the Museum at our friend Doug's garage for coffee and donuts. There we were treated with seeing his progress on a Martin Perry bodied Ford. It had been featured on the cover of the Vintage Ford 40 some years ago when his Father owned it. Doug has been going through it from the bottom up for several years. In the Idaho history side of the Museum lives this 1927 Coupe donated by the late John Hansen. He was an Idaho state Senator and several club members spent hours helping him restore it. His father had bought it new. Also a Harley knuckle-head powered home-made snow machine a local farmer had built. Part of the Museum of Idaho is housed in what used to be the Idaho Falls Public Library. It was only a couple blocks from home when I was a kid. The "No Dog No Roller Skates" sign is still on the original entrance to the children's Library. I had checked out the book "The Five Chinese Brothers" at least a dozen times from there.

For lunch we went to a restaurant which featured a popular slot car track. The building had been the infamous "Skyway Bar" back in the '70s and 80's. It was a spot that I spent far too much time and money in back in my errant youth. Don't get me started.
All and all it was a great day of wonderful memories of things, places and people.

Sounds like a fun day. I have a top for a MP body like that hanging in my barn. Someday project.

I though you might enjoy seeing the Martin Perry Dallas. Doug keeps asking me questions about it that I can't answer. I have tried to get him to look at the forum but he doesn't. When I saw his headlight wires tucked into the Hasslers I had to mention the danger of "shocks".

Genghis Khan owned a nice 1919 Smith Form-a-Truck and was often
seen with Martin Parry at the Public Library.
