I tried to buy some new sets from both Lang’s and Snyder’s. Sadly they are out of stock. This is very unfortunate. I guess with the passing of RV Anderson, these are not available anymore. I hope some one will have the interest to want to do what RV was doing going at some point

20 or so years ago I looked at making these and acquired most of the material and some of the dies. I will look at what I have and consider on it. What were they worth?

Roughly 50 bucks US for a set.

If you supply them where they were unavailable before, I'd think they were worth what you say they were worth!

I think the days where you stared at your dead car, guessed at what was wrong, spent $20 and actually got it going again are coming to a close.

Don Lang bought out R.V. Andersons stock. Let's hope he continues to make them. RIP Randall, I miss you.

Sorry for a bit of drift.
One of the odd (to most of the world?) things about this hobby, is that when I was twenty years old, I had a lot of friends that were nearly eighty years old!. Losing friends has always (at least for me and a lot of others that got into this hobby at a young age?) been a common part of life. However, so often, those friends lost had lived long and very full lives, been active in the best possible ways into their final months. Their funerals were celebrations of their lives, and many dozens of them live on in the memories of so many of their longtime friends, even decades after they are gone (I just minutes ago finished a remembrance of Vic Sala on another thread!)
Even people like Charley Shaver and Stan Howe, that contributed so very much to the hobby over so many years of their lives? When they passed suddenly, we all knew they couldn't last forever. It hurt, and they and oh so many more people like them will be missed for years to come.
I don't know why. However, when RV passed (quite suddenly!), in spite of the fact that I had never met him in person, his death hit me harder than most. Part of the reason is likely his age, he was still not old (a term of indiscriminate value that seems to keep changing?). He was a special contributor to the hobby in the many parts he made as well as the knowledge he always shared. But there are a lot of people in this hobby like that. Maybe part of it has to do with the fact it was that nasty virus haunting the world? I don't know.
RV and I traded information on the forums a number of times. He was one of many I came to think of as friends I greatly respected and admired, in spite of the fact I never met him/them in person.

Not looking for answers. Simply lamenting.

The Heinze coil points in my Model N were shot. I carefully removed the point contacts from the reed spring and bridge piece. I then used a set of later KW coil points and removed those contacts as well, being careful to preserve the small stud on their backside. Then I installed the point contacts in the Heinze spring & bridge. They work beautifully.

Yea Wayne,I understand what you are saying.
The fellow that got me started into Model T's with my first 1 is now in the hospital, with dementia related issues. and from what I understand they won't let him go home.
He can still talk model T's and A's but suddenly goes into something about a wire cage over his bed.
Another friend that helps me alot on stuff is shrinking down to nothing after being treated by radiation for throat cancer,can't eat.
Most of my friends are older than me because the people my age and younger were to busy boozing and chasing women.
Couldn't relate to them much.
I met RV and Stan both when I went to Chicken saw as I call in 08. Both were good people!

So many of those that are gone now made our lives so much better in so many ways. It's good to have the memories of them.
