I think it is rude for the Ford driver to stop to fix it without at least trying to push it out of the traveled lane of the road. That well dressed lady could help. Her black clothes wouldn't show much dirt or grease anyway! That poor driver of the buggy had to pull around the car.

It's a well thought out composition and likely a posed photo. I like it.
The couple would not be smiling if there were real trouble. The area he is pretending to work on is the steering column where the spark and gas rod springs are. Those don't often give trouble.
How nice of them to make the picture and for it to survive for us to enjoy.

Everyone seems very happy. The grey horse is almost invisible. Two very fine vehicles. That windshield is quite the picture window !!

The horse drawn carriage might be the photographer's wagon? The dark, tight, side curtains suggest that. Came upon a fellow fixing some minor problem, "Here, let me get your picture!"
