I will be removing the engine from my 1927 coupe. It looks as if I should remove the clutch peddle to get the engine out.
What is the best way to remove it.

Thanks

By pulling the hogshead is the short answer. The pedal cam is riveted into the shaft from the inside.

The shorter answer is don't. When you pull the engine forward, raise the nose to lower the pedals so they will clear the firewall.

You do not need to remove the pedals or the hogshead, or the steering column. Lift the engine from the #3 spark plug hole and pull it forward out of the drive shaft. Then set it down and lift it from the #2 sparkplug hole. You can twist it around and lift it out. That is how I did my 26 Coupe.

Steve and Scott are correct and this also applies to the Canadian sourced RHD Engines. It looks very awkward but is possible.
Tip No. 1. Drain all the Engine oil first and tie in the 4th Main Bearing !

I did find the second time I unfortunately had to pull mine from my 25/26 Fordor to remove the brake and reverse pedal. It's a bit
of a chore to put 'em back after the engine's in the car, but not as bad as fighting with 3 pedals out that little opening!

Thanks to everyone who replied. I think I will try Scott’s method. Now, just to find another body to help me. LOL

If a person of the elderly persuasion can do it solo, I bet you can too. :D

Yes, so much easier today than when my Dad was doing it. He had a block and tackle tied to a tree branch, working in sand, alone, usually at night after work using a single globe light!
Engine lifts, concrete floor, led lights and help these days is a breeze he reckons!
